Basia Budniak studied Photography at the Łódź Film School and the University of the Arts Poznań. She previously also studied at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University.

She uses in her artistic activity photography and video-art; constantly mixing traditional techniques and contemporary technical possibilities exploring boundaries of both mediums. Basia puts great interest in the performativity aspect of photography, often treating visuality as a starting point for her artistic activities, with which she explores the way images affects the human beings, and his/her entanglement in those images themselves. She directs her attention to the bare process of creation, thus examining the medium itself, often questioning it. Recently, she puts in her focus the use of photography in digital space and human entanglement that it causes. She is interested in the triad of portrait, face and body.
